FP Amsterdam welcomes Janine Dijkmeijer, general director of Nederlands Dans Theater

 

We are proud to have as a guest Janine Dijkmeijer, who will share with us the challenges of combining art and business and give a sneak-peak behind the scenes of one of the world’s most renowned companies of modern and contemporary dance.

As the General Director of Nederlands Dans Theater since March 2014, Janine takes the overall responsibility for the company’s administrative functions, and is in charge of currently fulfilling the aims, policies and intentions of its Art Plan 2017 – 2020. Furthermore, she is responsible for the financial efficiency of the company and its day to day HR function, ensuring that NDT delivers and maintains the company’s agreed communications and audience development plans.
Additionally, Dijkmeijer supports the generation of income for all aspects of the company’s programme and supports the shaping of its long term financial, development and artistic strategies in collaboration with the Artistic Director Paul Lightfoot.
In 2003 Dijkmeijer founded the international dance film festival Cindedans, which grew out to the highest rank of international dance film festivals. As a cultural entrepreneur she managed various cultural organizations. In 2009 Dijkmeijer and choreographer Nicole Beutler together founded the modern dance company nbprojects. Additionally, Dijkmeijer fulfilled several advisory roles, such as with Raad van Cultuur and Fonds Podiumkunsten.

As a dancer Dijkmeijer worked with various choreographers such as Krisztina de Châtel, Conny Janssen, Leine and Roebana, Paul Selwyn Norton, Francesca Harper (Ballet Frankfurt), Amanda Miller, Gideon Obarzanek (Chunky Move Australië) and Gary Stewart (Australian Dance Theatre). In 1999 she received the Golden Theatre Dance Prize (Golden Swan) and the Prize of Merit of the Dansersfonds.
