Connecting the world to the stories that matter
Founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized an international audience audience, WWP is a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling. The photo contest has grown into the world’s most prestigious competition, and the digital storytelling contest showcases online journalism. WWP exhibits winning stories to a worldwide audience of millions, educates the profession and the public on their making, and encourages debate on their meaning. The foundation is a creative, independent, nonprofit organization based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. WWP receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery and is sponsored worldwide by Canon.

About IWMF & Anja Niedringhaus
The International Women’s Media Foundation is working on the potential of female journalists. Through IWMF’s programs and awards, they are fully supported, protected, recognized and rewarded for their vital contributions to all levels of the news media. The IWMF’s Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award was created to honor Pulitzer Prize-winning AP photographer and IWMF Courage in Journalism Award winner Anja Niedringhaus (1965-2014). It celebrates female photojournalists whose work inspires us to take action and better understand the world. This courageous reporting is in many different forms, and we celebrate visual journalism that inspires us to take action. We believe
that courage is reflected in everyday life, beyond the frontlines of conflict, and we seek candidates whose work reflects the values of Anja Niedringhaus through compassion, humanity, and a commitment to capturing the whole picture. In Anja’s words “I do my job just to report on people’s courage with my camera and my heart.”
We will welcome the nominees at the Amsterdam Flavors in the Westergasfabriek on Saturday, April 14th 2018 .
