Danielle Coolen

“After spending billions of dollars, rubles and euros, the political, legal, social and economic situation deteriorated over time, actually accelerated in the last 30 years. Victims, as usual, are women and children. I will share with you some of my experiences during my time in Afghanistan and provide a little personal insight of some events.”

 

Danielle Coolen is a lawyer and an official mediator in employment; Commercial and governmental conflict. She worked in Brussels, London, Abidjan, West, Africa, Kosovo, Bosnia, and Herzegovina with various international organizations.

In March 2011, she joined the EU Police Mission in Kabul (Afghanistan) in the rule of law division as advisor to the Afghan ministry of interior.

She advised several generals and a deputy minister on public procurement law, trained police and public prosecutors on public procurement law, advised on the establishment of the police ombudsman and gave training on mediation with the support of UNDP. After more than 4 years, she left Afghanistan in December 2015.
