Féminin Pluriel, the global women’s network, is delighted to invite you to an evening of Champagne Appreciation dedicated to Women in Champagne with Gjørild Brenninkmeijer.

The event will take place on Wednesday the 17th of October 2018 at 7.00 pm.

With Féminin Pluriel’s mission of “bringing together influential women who excel, to inspire, share and learn from each other” in mind, Gjørild has prepared a special programme focusing on the most influential women in Champagne. They will guide us through the history of Champagne and the origins of the bubbles that make this wine the quintessential drink of celebrations. During this evening we will taste their wines, learn about their stylistic differences, how to recognise the grape

varieties and quality levels while Gjørild will guide us through the process from grape to glass.

About Gjørild Brenninkmeijer:

Gjørild Brenninkmeijer started following wine courses to get to the bottom of what was in her glass. It developed into an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She started joining tasting classes and soon realised that despite her ‘vast experience’, she had never really understood what makes a wine good. History, geology, biology, chemistry, politics and marketing. To study wine is to study the world.

Gjørild passed the final exam of the Diploma Course of the London-based Wine & Spirits Education Trust (dipWSET), the highest wine qualification taught in the Benelux, in January of this year. By February her thesis proposal to become Weinakademiker in Austria was approved.

Now that she knows good wine, Gjørild wants to understand why we value certain good wines more highly than others and what we want from these wines. This thesis research draws heavily upon her MA thesis at Erasmus University on value creation in contemporary art. She is intrigued by the similarities between the worlds of wine and art and their sensory pleasures.

When she is not studying, tasting or visiting wineries and art venues, Gjørild teaches the WSET Advanced course at Winefields Auctioneers Amsterdam and enjoys drinking wine with her husband and her friends.
