FP Geneva welcomes Cristina Rodriguez, Artist and World-traveler

Cristina Rodriguez was born in 1964 in Bogota, Colombia and attended the renowned Universidad de los Andes and the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, in London. She obtained a MA in Fine Art in 1991 and in 1992 received a Delfina Studios Award that was key in the development of her artistic career in London. She has also lived in Colombia, Peru, Germany, the US, Zimbabwe, Switzerland. Working within the European art legacy of Braque, Matisse, Klee and Chagall, Rodriguez is still inspired by the primal scenes of her Columbian heritage, the legendry Amazon river and the rich and colourful myths of the ‘fabulous’ and ‘magical’ found in her native Colombia. Rodriguez is a traveller, drawn to spontaneously reveal each new country she encounters. She paints the essence, conveying the joy and enchantment that each new land brings and is committed to discover the sources of “magic” to inspire her largely narrative art. Her 30-year painting career has encompassed a long list of solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the Americas and southern Africa.

Her exhibition  “Promenade Enchantées à Genève,” will be shown at the Cité du Temps from 25 May to 3 July 2016.
